Kristiina Leppänen: The World of Masks - Ages 15-18, Born 2007-2011 — Annantalo, Helsinki

What character would you create if you could build an entirely new face? On the "World of Masks" course, we explore masks from the perspectives of art, culture, and identity: how different communities have used them for celebration, protection, and storytelling, and what they can tell us today.

During the course, you will design and create your own mask from start to finish. The work stages include sketching, shaping, and making papier-mâché from recycled materials. The finished mask is painted and individually decorated, and you can take it home at the end of the course. When possible, we will also take short trips around Helsinki's urban landscape to search for "hidden faces" and forms.

The course is led by architect, set designer, and art educator Kristiina Leppänen. The teaching languages are Finnish and English. The course is aimed at 15-18-year-olds (born 2007-2011).

The course fee is 290 €, which can be paid in one or two instalments (September and November) by bank transfer or MobilePay. Detailed payment information will be sent after registration. Registration is binding and the fee is not refunded after the course begins. The course may be cancelled if there are not enough participants by 5 working days before the start - any cancellation will be notified by email.
