Agit-Cirk: RapuRequiem — Kanneltalo, Helsinki

RapuRequiem merges spoken theatre and contemporary circus into a dystopian science fiction work that examines the present day and modern humanity through absurdity, poetry, and physical storytelling. The premise is a question: what if nearly everything were destroyed and the surviving Western cultural history rested on a single mobile phone and a memory-impaired artist collective?

The artists who survived the catastrophe remember only fragments from the time before collapse - the pervasive influence of social media, the absurd rhetoric of leaders, and humanity's indifference to mounting ecological and human destruction. Their memories are marked by material abundance and paralyzing loneliness, growing inequality, the absence of global solidarity, and nuclear anxiety.

The group's mission is to preserve remnants of Finnish art history and find the legendary northern paradise where the air remains pleasantly cool and food is sufficient for all. Yet collective memory loss poses challenges to this sacred quest.
