Cover Her is a work combining music, movement, dance and storytelling, drawing inspiration from medieval Iberian rituals. It explores femininity, identity and emancipation through the stories of medieval virgin martyrs and the contemporary #MeToo movement - the paradoxes between past and present, freedom and captivity, death and renewal.
The work was created by an international team supported by NWO (Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research) in collaboration with historians from Radboud University (Nijmegen, Netherlands). The music was composed by Litha Efthymiou, whose works have been performed by the London Symphony Orchestra and the Ligeti String Quartet and presented at Royal Albert Hall, Kings Place, Southbank Centre and BBC Radio 3.
