RISA: Only Bones 2.0

RISA: Only Bones 2.0 is a contemporary circus work that explores bodily expression and our time - an era that seems to have turned backwards. The piece asks what happens when everyone pursues ultimate fulfillment and walks over one another without regard for the consequences.

The performance plays at the boundary between light and shadow, as well as at the extremes of physicality. Acrobatics and dance merge into a single whole, where body, space, and light create their own world on stage.

Only Bones is a minimalist concept for physical theatre developed by Thom Monckton. The starting point is a simple instruction: only one light, no narration, no scenography, no props, no text, everything within a confined space. Each artist can choose to either follow these parameters or break them.

On stage are Riia Kivimäki and Saku Mäkelä (RISA), who also direct the work. Sound design by Hanna Mikander and lighting design by Jere Mönkkönen. Concept by Thom Monckton. Co-production: RISA and Stoa.
