Tango del norte

Tango del norte is a Finnish tango ensemble that began its journey in 2011 with the music of Astor Piazzolla. In 2026, the group celebrates its 15-year anniversary with a concert tour featuring both new arrangements and beloved classics - from traditional Argentine and Finnish tango standards to Piazzolla's compositions.

The ensemble has won awards at international competitions: in 2021 it placed second at the Italian "Astor Piazzolla - Città di Trani 2021" competition, and in 2018 the ensemble's bandoneon player Sami Pirttilahti won the "Che Bandoneon" competition in the USA. The group has released three albums: Raíces de pasión (2016) with Argentine singer Romina Bianco, Solos & Duos (2018), and Argentiinalaisittain (2025), which was also released in Argentina in October 2025.

Tango del norte has performed over 300 concerts throughout Finland and appeared on concert stages, in clubs, and at tango festivals across Europe and Argentina.
