Journey Through Africa
The exhibition tells the story of a journey to Kenya. The drawings and paintings begin as recordings of views - animals, trees, savanna landscapes - but gradually transform into the artist's own interpretation through forms and colours.
As the process unfolds, the images break free from their African setting and begin to live their own lives. The focus shifts from the subject matter itself to the act of painting: how does the image emerge, how is it constructed, what is its essence - does it lie in form, line, colour, or in the interplay of light and shadow.
The works were created during spring 2026 at a measured pace, returning to them after several days' rest and viewing them with fresh eyes. Organiser: Jyväskylä City Library, [email protected], 014 5694123.
