Seven Brothers - Additional Performances at Jyväskylä City Theatre

Director, actor, and Finlandia Prize-winning author Juha Hurme brought his own version of Seven Brothers to Jyväskylä in autumn 2025. The adaptation and direction are based on his new "translation" of Aleksis Kivi's original text.

In Hurme's interpretation, seven marginalized young people withdraw to the forest for ten years to study literacy and social literacy. The structure of Kivi's original story is preserved: crisis is followed by an intense meeting, reform attempts lead to new disaster - and again it is time to convene. Supporting each other, the brothers survive and reach the story's balanced conclusion.
