Lost Stories is a series of five novellas about love - and about how ordinary people can change the course of history. The play is written by Mikhail Zygar based on his latest book The Dark Side of the Earth, and he also directs it.

The play is performed by Ingeborga Dapkunaite and Mikhail Zygar himself. Zygar is an internationally renowned author, journalist, and playwright whose works - such as All the Kremlin's Men and War and Punishment - examine the nature of the modern Russian state. Russia's "ministry of justice" has branded him a "foreign agent", and he currently lives in exile in the United States. Dapkunaite is a Lithuanian actress known for the Oscar-winning film Burnt by the Sun as well as roles in Mission Impossible, Okkupert, and the theatre production In the Solitude of Cotton Fields with John Malkovich.

In five scenes we follow people at turning points in their lives - moments when personal choices take on historical significance. The characters range from Lilya Brik and Sergei Parajanov to anonymous ordinary people. By 2026, the play has toured with sold-out houses in over ten countries, including New York, London, Paris, Amsterdam, Berlin, and Barcelona.

The performance is in Russian (no subtitles). Following the show, a Q&A session and book signing will take place.
