James Tottman: Before the Light Fades
ilmainen
In a world shaped by complexity and noise, I want to focus on simplicity, subtle sensations, and moments when we simply are.
The exhibition features a series of luminous figurative oil paintings that explore fleeting moments of joy in life. Natural light, along with Tottman's characteristic flowing lines and brushstrokes, are central to his expression. The subjects draw from both personal and universally familiar memories - the scent of freshly cut grass, the opening notes of a beloved song, or the warmth of morning sunlight.
James Tottman (born 1986) is a British artist known for his figurative oil paintings. He studied animation and worked on visual effects in major film productions, including the Harry Potter films. After moving to Finland in 2013, he worked at Remedy Entertainment, which deepened his interest in surrealism. During the coronavirus pandemic, he returned to oil painting inspired by the works of Edvard Munch.
