Starman

Officials at the Galactic Central Office have noticed that the phenomenon known as nature conservation is growing in popularity and threatening their plans. An interstellar soldier Starman (Martti Suosalo) is sent to Earth and crashes a monologue performance with the power of frogstimulant to set things right.

In the play, the focus shifts to places where the state of nature and humanity's fate are discussed. Under the spotlight appear in turn a Forester, an Activist, a Sparrow, and a Biologist - and looming over it all is the interstellar vizier Starman, who tries hard to influence the course of the performance and perhaps the entire development of humankind. The play, which reflects on the problem of biodiversity loss, grew out of conversations between Juha Kauppinen and Martti Suosalo in late 2022.

Martti Suosalo performs and Raila Leppäkoski directs. With minimalist technique, the monologue becomes a series of sharp speeches, at the heart of which lies Suosalo's acting skill.
