Two childhood sweethearts meet on a train after two decades apart. Elina decides to stay and find out what has happened in Jönssson's life - even though the situation is awkward.

Sidetrack unfolds during a journey between two stations, where the past and present collide. The story explores old love affairs and the life paths that almost came to be.
