Emeka Ogboh - Danfo Block Party

On Saturday, August 15, Danfo Block Party takes place on Stoa's plaza, centered around artist and musician Emeka Ogboh's danfo bus. The bus has traveled through Copenhagen and Stockholm - the same route used in Lagos for decades as both transport and a social meeting place.

Throughout the afternoon, music fills the plaza under the direction of Emeka Ogboh and DJ Sophia Wekesa. The event also gathers Afro-Nordic experiences and perspectives on mobility, home, belonging, and community.

The danfo bus journey is part of Ogboh's Transmissions installation, which will be presented in autumn at Amos Rex in the exhibition The Other Side of the Mountain. The exhibition is part of Southnord Artfest 2026, which unfolds across different parts of Helsinki from October onwards. Sounds, images, and stories collected during the road trip become part of the exhibition.
