Music Theory

This course covers the fundamentals of music theory in a practical way: notes, intervals, chords, rhythm, and scales. Through practical examples and exercises, we explore how theory can enrich your understanding of music and enhance your listening and playing experience. The focus is on Western classical music, but examples are drawn from other musical cultures as well.

No prior music theory knowledge is required. A maximum of 10 participants will be accepted, and you may bring your own instrument if you wish. The course is led by music educator Sakari Heikka.

Teaching is in Finnish. The course meets on Wednesdays 2.9.-16.9. from 17:00 to 18:15 in the Ilmari meeting room.
