Resident Meeting and Park Plan for Eugen Schaumanin Park

A resident meeting will be held on Wednesday, 2.9.2026 from 18:00 to 19:00 in the library of Kulosaardens samskola (Kulosaardens combined school), in the reading room at Svinhufvudinkuja 6 E. The meeting will begin with a presentation of the draft plan for the renovation of Eugen Schaumanin Park, followed by time for discussion.

The planning is based on a park-historical survey conducted in the early 2000s. The park will be restored to its 1930s appearance: the playground will be fenced and completely redesigned to be more diverse, the park's central axis will be restored and a small seating area will be added. Individual trees in poor condition will be removed and new ones planted. Meadow areas will receive improved maintenance, undergrowth will be cleared, and the waterfront wall will be repaired. Lighting will be updated with consideration for bats.

The fennobaltic forest arboretum area in the park's southeastern corner will be preserved, with the Botanica Calonia foundation responsible for its maintenance. A narrow unlit wood-chip path from the southeastern shore of Kluuvi to Armas Lindgren Street is planned.
