City of Light 2026 at Jyväskylä Art Museum

Jyväskylä Art Museum participates in the City of Light 2026 event. On Friday 25.9.2026, exhibitions are open free of charge, and the museum stays open unusually late until 10 p.m. Visitors are welcomed by festively lit Local Nomad, the former lumpball - and inside await light surprises as well.

Graffiti City (19.9.2026-17.1.2027) brings together Jyväskylä graffiti artists from different generations spanning the 1990s to today. The exhibition traces local graffiti history and shows how graffiti manifests as sculptures, art prints, and installations.

In the gallery from 25.9.-8.11.2026, Schjerfbeck X Nordea Art Foundation is on display, bringing together five rarely seen together works by Helene Schjerfbeck from the Nordea Art Foundation collection. The works span nearly Schjerfbeck's entire artistic career from early historical subjects to spiritualized portraits.
