Long Longing

"Long Longing", written and directed by Eppu Nuotio, weaves together stories of Karelian refugee children from over a century ago. The play is a fictional work whose script is based on real events and research - it draws on Katja Hyry's doctoral dissertation "Meistä jäi taas jälki" (University of Lapland, 2011), for which Hyry interviewed thirty refugees who as children walked from Vienan Karelia to Finland in the early 1920s. The performances are part of the 120-year-old Karelian Cultural Society's anniversary programme.
