Transpoli is an Obstacle Course

In this gamified contemporary circus performance, transpoli - the gender identity research clinics at HUS and TAYS - becomes an obstacle course. The performance simulates the transpoli process and exposes unequal structures within healthcare as well as the exercise of power in transpoli through game and circus.

You can participate in the performance either as a player or as a spectator. From the audience, you watch how players progress or get stuck on the course. Players are assigned a character based on anonymous transpoli stories collected and published by the Transpolitiikka collective - the characters have age, gender identity, possible comorbidities, and other factors that hinder the process. A player can advance smoothly, receive penalties, or end up back at the starting point, just as in reality.

There are 10 player spots, and those who have purchased a player ticket should arrive 30 minutes before the performance for orientation. Player tickets are not suitable for people with mobility restrictions.

The performance may be distressing for people who are undergoing or have undergone their own transpoli process or have other negative experiences related to the topic - for example, themes related to medical abuse of power may cause distress.
