Pier Lorenzo Pisano: Hiili

Hiili begins with humanity's first verified encounter with an unknown life form. The event is not a rumor, a vision, or a conspiracy theory, but something the entire world has witnessed - yet no one quite knows what happened or what the encounter means.

At the heart of the play are two people: one has experienced something inexplicable, the other tries to make sense of what occurred. Their conversation moves between interrogation, confession, and shared bewilderment. Questions repeat, memories shift, and certainty begins to unravel.

The work asks whether a person can truly meet something completely foreign without transforming it into something like themselves - and what empathy might mean when there is no shared language or experience. The play is written by Italian dramatist and filmmaker Pier Lorenzo Pisano. The production is directed by David Kozma, founder of Post Theatre Collective, and features Roosa Söderholm and Jari Virman on stage.
