Wimme & Rinne

Wimme Saari is a Sámi from Käsivarren Kelottijärvi. A master of traditional joik singing, he has developed his own modern joik style, influenced by both contemporary music and sound art.

Tapani Rinne has lived in Helsinki since adulthood, but his roots lie in the Satakunta plains - and the wide agricultural landscapes of his childhood have clearly left their mark: his saxophone and clarinet playing carries a strong sense of space, a kind of Nordic quality.

Saari and Rinne have made music together for over a quarter century and toured across different continents. The current formation is the duo Wimme & Rinne, where both their backgrounds and experience come together.
