I Forgot How Big the House Is Where I Live

I Forgot How Big the House Is Where I Live is a stage work combining movement and human voices, where Mirkka Rekola's poems serve as the red thread of the performance - both recited and sung. The work guides us through past, present, and future via images characteristic of Rekola's poetry: the moods of the sea, the changing seasons, and the human longing to be seen as oneself.

In the performance, composed and directed by Simo Heiskanen, movement and animation weave together the fleeting nature of life and memory. Rekola is known as one of Finnish literature's significant queer figures, and her poetry explores love, otherness, and humanity in ways that remain relevant today.
