WAM! World After Malaria Festival

WAM! World After Malaria is a two-day festival that examines malaria beyond medicine - through work, water, housing, and political inequality. The event brings together international researchers, artists, filmmakers, musicians, and healthcare professionals in Helsinki.

The programme includes a documentary film about malaria's disappearance in Finland, a melodrama set in Ottoman times with live music, a theatre installation combining Shakespeare and fever, and a book launch by Oxford University professor Ann Kelly. The African Dialogues discussion features doctor Marceline Finda from Ifakara Health Institute in Tanzania.

On 13.11.2026 the event takes place at Helsinki University's Svenska social- och kommunalhögskolan, on 14.11.2026 at Lapinlahden Lähde. Admission is free.
