Mushroom and Bible Course

The course is designed for mushroom foraging beginners. The goal is first to learn to identify five species that cannot be confused with poisonous mushrooms - with just these, you can fill a freezer or drying cabinet in a normal year in the Karku area. After that, the number of species is increased to ten. The course also teaches mushroom cooking. Mushrooms are seen as God's gift, and the programme includes Bible teaching and devotions.

The course is led by Erkki Koskenniemi. A maximum of 30 participants are accepted.

The course fee is 200 euros, which includes full board in a double room with your own bed linen and shared toilet and shower facilities. For an additional fee, you can get a toilet and shower in your room (20 €/night/person) or bed linen (15 €). One-day participation (without overnight stay) gives a -50 % discount on the course fee, two-day participation (1 overnight stay) gives a -10 % discount. Late registrations incur an additional fee of 10 €/person. An invoice will be sent by email after the weekend. The course will be invoiced unless participation has been cancelled by the day before the course begins.

Accommodation is allocated in order of registration, taking wishes into account. If your preferred accommodation type is full, the institute will contact you. Registration by 14.9.2026.

Bring wind- and waterproof clothing suitable for outdoor activities, a small sharp knife, and a Bible.
