Dance Course - Find Your Moving, Praying and Dancing Body
Karkun evankelinen opisto, Sastamala
The course is designed for anyone interested in the subject - no previous experience is required. The starting point is presence and rest, from which we explore what forms of movement and dance life creates. Each participant does the exercises from their own starting point.
The working methods include body exercises, dance improvisation, movement and composition exercises, and various forms of embodied prayer. The course also introduces the basics of different dance styles, such as lyrical dance, jazz dance, and/or contemporary dance. If the schedule allows, movement is combined with visual art (painting/drawing). The programme is implemented flexibly by listening to the group, and topics can vary within the schedule. The course also includes teaching on what the Bible and psychology teach about human embodiment.
The course is led by Titta Hassila (psychologist, master's degree in theology, basic studies in dance pedagogy at TEAK, staff member of Kristanssi ry, 10 years of experience in Christian dance and embodiment) and Linnea Hassila (dancer and dance pedagogue).
The course runs from Friday 27.11 to Sunday 29.11. The programme begins on Friday at 16.00 with registration and ends on Sunday with a service at 11.00, including lunch and coffee.
