Liisa Pentti +Co: Zone Critique

Zone Critique is a choreography for dance and poetry, inspired by French geochemist Jérôme Gaillardet's book La Terre habitable. The book explores the intertwining of humanity and the Earth. The critical zone - zone critique - is the area between sky and rock, where solar energy activates the water cycle and slow energy shapes the Earth's surface. In this intermediate zone, all life on Earth occurs and all becoming takes place, rooted in leakages and errors between different ecosystems.

In the work, poetry and dance flow into each other: the inevitable rhythm of verse creates dance and choreography shaped through rhythms and emotional imagery. The choreography draws from Martin Enkell's unnamed concluding poem from his 999 poetry collection, whose themes move through the incomprehensibility of the cosmos, love, the unpredictability of natural forces, and the interconnectedness of all things.

Zone Critique is the culminating work of choreographer Liisa Pentti's 40-year artistic jubilee.
