Seniors' Week, everyday encounters in Ylöjärvi town centre

Finland's national Seniors' Week is celebrated 5-11 October 2026 under the theme Everyday Encounters. The Ylöjärvi event takes place on Monday, 5 October 2026 from 10:00 at the parish centre, Kirkkotanhuantie 1.

Programme for the day:

10:00 Workshops open - you can paint, test your strength, or simply spend time here
11:00 AskelFriends lead a walk in the local area
11:30 Shared lunch
12:30 Group singing, Maria Joutsi-Laine
13:30 Reflection, Ulla Ruusukallio, and opening of the photo exhibition "Everyday Encounters"

The photo exhibition tells stories of encounters with older people and focuses on ordinary moments where presence, listening, care and togetherness take on meaning. The exhibition is on display at the parish centre from 5-30 October 2026.

The event is organised in collaboration by Ylöjärvi parish, Ylöjärvi city, Tredu, FinFami Pirkanmaa, the Pirkko project and Lähitori/Ylöjärvi.
