Airaniemi/Karjalainen is a Finnish electroacoustic instrumental ensemble formed by guitarist Ville-Veikko Airaniemi and Helsinki-based musician, producer and recording engineer Väinö Karjalainen. Their music draws on ambient, drone and experimental traditions, with improvisation at its core. Live performances expand to a quartet with multi-instrumentalists Olavi Louhivuori and Ilkka Tolonen. The duo brings together Airaniemi's wide-ranging guitar work - spanning pop, rock, jazz and fusion - and Karjalainen's deep background shaping records across Finland's contemporary scene.
Airaniemi/Karjalainen are scheduled to perform at G Livelab Helsinki on 21 October 2026, sharing the bill with saxophonist Heli Hartikainen.
Ville-Veikko Airaniemi's second solo album Rooms is announced for release in autumn 2026; the ensemble will perform material from it at G Livelab.
