Airaniemi/Karjalainen is an electroacoustic instrumental ensemble formed by Ville-Veikko Airaniemi and Väinö Karjalainen, whose music is rooted in improvisation and draws from ambient, drone, and experimental music. The live lineup includes Airaniemi and Karjalainen alongside multi-instrumentalists Olavi Louhivuori and Ilkka Tolonen. At G Livelab, the ensemble performs music from Airaniemi's album Rooms (released autumn 2026) and Karjalainen's album Birch Bark Letter (released April 2026).

Ville-Veikko Airaniemi is a guitarist whose projects span pop, rock, jazz, fusion, and world music. He is known from bands including Arpa and Emma & Matilda, and released his debut album Calico in November 2024. Väinö Karjalainen is one of Finland's most respected producers and sound engineers in alternative music - his work is heard on albums by Arpa, Lyytti, and Ursus Factory. As a musician, he performs with the bands Tiisu and Pekka Laine & The Enchanted, and Birch Bark Letter was his debut solo album.

The evening opens with saxophonist Heli Hartikainen, who is also a clarinetist, composer, and sound artist. Hartikainen is among Finland's boldest improvisers in experimental music and ambient jazz. Her debut solo album CHRONOVARIATIONS employs 3D sound technology, won the Kritiikin Kannukset award in 2025 for the year's greatest artistic breakthrough, and was nominated for the Emma award for best jazz album of 2024.
