Norwegian saxophonist Marius Neset brings his quartet to G Livelab in Helsinki.

Neset picked up the saxophone at age eight and by his early twenties had established himself among Europe's most compelling jazz musicians. His breakthrough came with the album Golden Xplosion (2011), followed by several releases on Edition Records and the ACT label. His latest album Cabaret (ACT, 2025) was recorded on a remote Norwegian island.

The quartet features Neset alongside London-based keyboardist Elliot Galvin and bassist Conor Chaplin, plus Swedish-Norwegian drummer Anton Eger from Copenhagen. In the group's music, composed and improvised material interweave, with rhythmic energy driving the sound forward.

Neset's new orchestral work Changes, written for himself, drummer Anton Eger and five London Sinfonietta players, had its world premiere at the EFG London Jazz Festival on 20 November 2025.

After the London premiere, Changes toured to Harstad and Tromsø in Norway as part of the ILIOS Festival for New Music and the Northern Lights Festival.

A Copenhagen-based drummer of Norwegian-Swedish heritage, Eger built his reputation through Phronesis - one of Europe's most acclaimed jazz trios - and has since carved out a solo path that blends acoustic jazz craft with electronic production.
