Finnish cello-metal band Apocalyptica performs at the Rokki Raikaa - Tampere 2026 event.
Apocalyptica is a Helsinki-based cello metal band formed in 1993 at the Sibelius Academy. They broke through internationally with their 1996 debut 'Plays Metallica by Four Cellos', and have since released ten studio albums - moving from Metallica covers to original compositions that blend classical technique with heavy metal. The current trio of Eicca Toppinen, Paavo Lötjönen and Perttu Kivilaakso has collaborated with vocalists including Corey Taylor, Ville Valo and Till Lindemann, and sold over six million albums worldwide.
Apocalyptica announced a co-headlining spring 2026 North American tour with Mongolian folk-metal band The HU, supported by The Rasmus, running from May 12 in Silver Spring, MD to June 7 in Anaheim, CA.
Apocalyptica completed a North American headline tour in February-March 2025 in support of 'Plays Metallica Vol. 2', with Nita Strauss as support act.
Apocalyptica released 'Plays Metallica Vol. 2' on June 7, 2024, featuring collaborations with Metallica members including Robert Trujillo and archival material from Cliff Burton.
The band celebrated the release of 'Plays Metallica Vol. 2' with a special concert at Helsinki Ice Hall on June 8, 2024.
Apocalyptica reissued their 2007 album 'Worlds Collide', which features fan favourites 'I Don't Care' and 'I'm Not Jesus'.
