Crypt Sermon is a Philadelphia-based epic doom metal band formed in 2013, currently a sextet on Dark Descent Records. Drawing on the tradition of Candlemass and Solitude Aeturnus, they built a reputation for long, hook-driven compositions that sit at the crossroads of doom and classic heavy metal. Their third album, The Stygian Rose (2024), topped Decibel Magazine's Top 40 Albums of 2024 - the publication's most prestigious annual ranking.
Crypt Sermon released the EP Saturnian Appendices on August 8, 2025 via Dark Descent Records, featuring four tracks from The Stygian Rose sessions including a Mayhem cover.
The band played their first-ever European shows in summer 2025, appearing at Brutal Assault (Czech Republic), Party.San Open Air (Germany), Alcatraz Festival (Belgium) and The Black Heart in London.
The Stygian Rose was ranked #1 on Decibel Magazine's Top 40 Albums of 2024, the publication's most prominent annual metal ranking.
