Paradise Lost are a British gothic/doom metal band from Halifax, West Yorkshire, formed in 1988. Their 1991 album Gothic helped define an entire subgenre, and records like Draconian Times (1995) and Icon (1993) brought them mainstream metal recognition. Over 35+ years and 17 studio albums, the band - anchored by vocalist Nick Holmes and guitarist Gregor Mackintosh - has moved between crushing death-doom, gothic rock and back, influencing acts from Katatonia to Nightwish.
