Amorphis is a Helsinki-based metal band founded in 1990 by guitarist Esa Holopainen, guitarist Tomi Koivusaari and drummer Jan Rechberger. Starting out as a death metal act, the band gradually wove in progressive rock, folk and psychedelic elements - a journey that produced genre-defining albums like Tales from the Thousand Lakes (1994) and Elegy (1996). Now on their 15th studio album, Borderland (2025), they remain one of Finland's most internationally recognised heavy acts, with six Finnish number-one albums and multiple Emma awards to their name.
Amorphis released their 15th studio album Borderland on September 26, 2025 via Reigning Phoenix Music, produced by Danish producer Jacob Hansen.
The band released the lead single "Light and Shadow" from Borderland on June 6, 2025.
Amorphis announced a December 2025 Finnish headline Borderland Tour covering Ikaalinen, Kempele, Lappeenranta, Kajaani, Tampere, Seinäjoki, Turku, Lahti, Helsinki and Lohja.
Amorphis co-headlined a major European and UK arena tour with Arch Enemy, Eluveitie and Gatecreeper, kicking off in Stuttgart on October 10, 2025.
The album Halo (2022) reached number one in Finland and the top 3 of the German album chart, and earned Amorphis two Emma awards: Band of the Year and Export of the Year.
