Ensiferum is a Helsinki-born folk metal band founded in 1995 by guitarist Markus Toivonen. Blending melodic death metal with folk influences, they have built a global following across nine studio albums - from the self-titled debut in 2001 through to 'Winter Storm' (2024). Their 2020 album 'Thalassic' topped the Finnish charts and reached the top ten in Germany, Switzerland, Canada and the United States, cementing their place as one of the genre's leading acts worldwide.
