Finnish band French Films makes a comeback at On The Rocks in September with new singles and an upcoming album.
French Films is a Helsinki indie rock band formed in 2010 by Johannes Leppänen, Joni Kähkönen, Mikael Jurmu, Santtu Vainio and Antti Inkiläinen. Blending surf rock, new wave and jangle pop, they became one of the most internationally visible Finnish indie acts of the early 2010s - touring Europe and Asia, playing Roskilde Festival and winning the 2013 European Border Breakers Award. After going quiet around 2016-17, the band returned in 2026 with new singles and festival dates.
French Films released their second comeback single 'Dearly' on June 10, 2026, and played their first live show in years at Kesärauha Festival in Turku.
The band released 'Bus Stop' on May 21, 2026 - the first single from their upcoming album - marking their return after nearly ten years away.
Helsingin Sanomat published a major interview with the band around the time of their comeback.
French Films performed at Jytäkesä Go Go festival at Suvilahti, Helsinki, on July 31, 2026.
