About

Helsingin Barokkiorkesteri (Helsinki Baroque Orchestra, HeBo) was founded in 1997 and has been led since 2003 by artistic director Aapo Häkkinen. Playing on period instruments and guided by historically informed performance practice, the orchestra has grown into one of Europe's most respected early music ensembles - known especially for its command of German and Baltic Baroque repertoire. It has given Finnish premieres of major works ranging from Handel and Haydn to Schubert and Schumann, and performs regular concert series at Helsinki's Musiikkitalo as well as touring venues from the Amsterdam Concertgebouw and Cologne Philharmonie to Tokyo's Suntory Hall.
