Maria Kalaniemi

About

Maria Kalaniemi is a Finnish accordionist and composer who has spent over 40 years reshaping what the accordion can express. She has performed in concert halls from Vienna to Tokyo and is known for championing Finland-Swedish musical heritage. In 2018 she received the Finnish State Prize for Music and was elected a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Music.
