Ulla Pirttijärvi-Länsman is a Sámi joik singer born in 1971 in Angeli, a small village in northern Finland. She started out with the group Angelin Tytöt in 1989 before building a solo career that spans several decades and multiple ensembles - most notably Ulda (founded 2009), Solju (with her daughter Hildá Länsman, 2014) and the Norwegian-Finnish trio Áššu. Her work has won the Saami Council cultural prize, the German Record Critics' Award and the Indigenous Music Award (Canada), making her one of the most internationally recognised voices in Sámi music.
Áššu released their second album Luohteniegut (Nordic Notes / CPL-Musicgroup) on 21 February 2025.
Luohtenlegut reached number 4 on the World Music Charts Europe shortly after release.
The label behind Luohtenlegut was named among the top 20 world music labels of 2025 by the World Music Charts.

Áššu's debut album won the German Record Critics' Award (Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik) in the world music category.
