Masta Ace (born Duval Clear, December 4, 1966, Brooklyn, New York) is an American rapper and record producer who first came to wider attention on the 1988 Juice Crew posse cut "The Symphony". Over a career spanning more than three decades he has built a reputation as one of East Coast hip-hop's most thoughtful lyricists, with concept albums such as Disposable Arts (2001) and A Long Hot Summer (2004) widely regarded as underground classics. Eminem has cited him as a key influence in both his autobiography and a Grammy speech.
Masta Ace & Tom Caruana released the remix project Natural Forces in October 2025, featuring two brand-new Ace tracks alongside reworked material from across his career.
Masta Ace featured on the winning track "Like It's 93" by Emma Lee M.C. & Roccwell, which took the Rap category at the 2025 InterContinental Music Awards.
Masta Ace received a Lifetime Achievement Award at Poland's Popkillery hip-hop ceremony in 2025.
Masta Ace toured Europe in autumn 2025, playing nine cities including Hamburg, London, Berlin, Munich, Cologne, Leipzig, Dortmund, Aarau and Weinheim.
Masta Ace and producer Marco Polo released the collaborative album Richmond Hill on January 26, 2024, via Fat Beats Records.
