About

Royal Sorrow is a Helsinki-based progressive metal band formed by childhood friends Markus Hentunen (vocals, guitars), Eero Maijala (bass) and Janne Mieskonen (drums). Their debut album Innerdeeps, released in September 2025 on InsideOut Music (Sony), drew wide international attention for its polished blend of technical prog-metal, cinematic atmosphere and melodic hooks. The band toured Europe in autumn 2025 as support for Leprous, and have since been confirmed for ProgPower Europe 2026.

    Royal Sorrow was confirmed as the eighth band for ProgPower Europe 2026.

    Royal Sorrow was announced for Ilosaarirock 2026 in Joensuu, performing on the Sound Stage on 17 July.

    Royal Sorrow completed a European headline support tour with Leprous and Gåte, spanning France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Germany, Sweden, Denmark and Belgium.
