Devin Townsend (born 1972, New Westminster, BC) is a Canadian singer, guitarist, songwriter, and producer whose output spans progressive metal, ambient, orchestral rock, and beyond. He first came to wide attention as the lead vocalist on Steve Vai's 1993 album Sex & Religion, then built his own legacy through Strapping Young Lad, the Devin Townsend Project, and a prolific solo career now stretching to over 30 studio albums.
