Come celebrate the traditional Helsinki Day event in Kontula at Kontula Square and the youth centre Luuppi! This beloved event is being held for the 20th time this year.

The programme features theatre, dance, crafts and live music from morning to evening. The event is open to everyone and free of charge.

At Kontula Square - dance and crafts

9:00 Maria Baric Company's procession from the square to Lampi playground for the children's Helsinki Day programme. More information about Lampi playground's Helsinki Day programme can be found here.

11:00-14:00 Chair Workshop. Test the square's new chairs and chat with chair designer Niilo Tenkanen about the shopping centre's gathering spaces and their development.

12:00 -> Repainting of the street art "Kontula Sun" under the direction of Kontula Art School

12:00 -> Aapelin Tiles colouring workshop. Design the colour scheme for the tiled walls in Aapelin Corner.

12:00 -> 100 fruit ice lollies to be given away! The East City Pilot distributes fruit ice lollies as long as supplies last.

12:00-14:00 Ribbon decoration workshop. Decorate the ribbon to be hung above the Children's Kitchen under the guidance of RaivioBumann instructors.

13:00-15:00 Library summer Friday Lego workshop. Build your own home corner from Lego.

14:00-15:00 Old-time street dances. The ten-member entertainment orchestra "Old Masters" plays swing and evergreens.

At Luuppi - live music

17:00 Kontula Blues Festival Band
The house band of the KBF club, which emerged from the Kontula Blues Festival, plays blues at its finest. Featuring Sanna Jäänvirta, Petteri Hirvanen and Ari Koivunen.

18:00 Lochetius Murkula and his Lössi
Lössi is a six-member humorous party band known for its energetic stage presence.

19:00 Ottelia Kuriton
This fresh band is made up of musicians Selina Sillanpää and Aija Puurtinen. At OstariFestival, the line-up also includes Esa and Mooses Kuloniemi.

20:00 Unipersonal Farfisa Orchestra
U.F.O is Heikki Hiltunen's one-man orchestra. Electronic music with electric keyboard instruments is expected.
