KulttuuriOstariFestari

KulttuuriOstariFestari is held for the twentieth time on Kontula Square and at the youth centre Luup as part of Helsinki Day programming. The event is free and open to everyone.

On Kontula Square, the day begins at 9:00 when Maria Baric Company's procession departs from the square to Lampe playground for a children's event. From 11:00 to 14:00, visitors can test the square's new chairs in the Chair Workshop and discuss the development of the shopping centre's gathering spaces with chair designer Niilo Tenkanen. Starting at 12:00, several activities run simultaneously: repainting the street art Kontula Aurinko under the direction of Kontula Art School, a tile-colouring workshop for Aapelin tiles, and 100 fruit ice lollies from Idän stadslotsar - while supplies last. From 12:00 to 14:00, RaivioBumann instructors lead a ribbon-decoration workshop where participants decorate the ribbon to be hung above the Children's Kitchen. From 13:00 to 15:00, the library's lego workshop offers the chance to build your own home corner from lego. From 14:00 to 15:00, the entertainment orchestra Wanhat Mestarit (10 musicians) plays swing and evergreens for street dancing.

At Luup, live music begins at 17:00. Kontula Blues Festival Band takes the stage with blues - featuring Sanna Jäänvirta, Petteri Hirvanen and Ari Koivunen. At 18:00, Lochetius Murkula and Hänen Lössinsä perform, a six-piece humour and party band. At 19:00 comes Ottelia Kuriton, featuring Selina Sillanpää and Aija Puurtinen - at OstariFestarilla also joined by Esa and Mooses Kuloniemi. The evening concludes at 20:00 with Unipersonal Farfisa Orchestra: Heikki Hiltunen's one-man orchestra delivers electronic entertainment on keyboards.
