Helsinki Day at Espa Stage

Helsinki Day is celebrated at Espa Stage with a free programme from 11:00 to 21:00. The city's mayor Daniel Sazonov delivers a greeting during the day.

11:00-12:20 | Stadin Slangi rf's Helsinki Day
The event announces the 2026 winners of Stadin Friidu and Kundi. The stage features Helsinki slang in the form of music and stories - performers include Antti Rein, the Slang Choir, and several influential figures in Helsinki culture. Interviews explore the 30-year history of Tsilari magazine and the origins of the slang. The event is interpreted into Finnish sign language.

14:00-15:00 | Sakari Juntura - Open Stage
Singer and guitarist Sakari Juntura performs schlager-influenced pop music about love and parenthood. Juntura released his debut album in April 2026 and works as a teacher.

17:30-21:00 | Helsinki Samba Carnaval - Opening
The evening marks the opening of Helsinki Samba Carnaval 2026. The programme includes a Helsinki dance lesson, samba performances from across Finland, and a fantasy costume competition. Both young and experienced samba dancers participate.

The previously announced MIL-Espa concert has been cancelled. All other programming is open and free.
