Late-Summer Butterflies and Insects on Hara Island — Helsinki
Free entry

In August, late-summer plants bloom on the valleys and cliffs of Hara Island, attracting day butterflies and other insects. The butterflies feed on nectar from the flowers before overwintering or migrating south of the Gulf of Finland. Weather permitting, the excursion will observe various bumblebee and butterfly species as well as other animal groups. The walk is approximately 1 km and no advance registration is required.

The excursion begins at Hara Island's dock when the ferry departing at 12:00 arrives at the island. The guided excursion is free, but the ferry ticket is at your own expense. Merenkävijät's ferry departs from Ulanlinna dock next to Café Ursula (Ehrenströmintie 3). Round-trip ticket: adults 9 €, children 7-17 years and pensioners 6 €, under 7 years free. Payment is primarily by card or MobilePay (17371). Raise the white wooden flag at the dock 5 minutes before departure.
