Kaisaniemi Botanical Garden
Kaisaniemen kasvitieteellinen puutarha, Helsinki
ilmainen
An art-historical guided tour introduces the architecture of Kaisaniemi Botanical Garden from a garden and landscape architecture perspective. Gustaf Nyström's design work is visible in the architecture of the Palm House and Plant Museum, which we examine from the outside.
We do not visit the greenhouses during the tour, but you can visit them independently after the tour - admission requires a ticket or museum card. Kaisaniemi Botanical Garden is part of the Finnish Museum of Natural History.
The tours are organized by the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Helsinki, with art history students serving as guides. The summer programme includes a total of 13 different guided tours. This tour takes place on 1 July, 9 July and 15 July 2026 from 14:00 to 15:00.
The meeting point is the square in front of the main entrance to the greenhouses and ticket office - arrive 5-10 minutes before the start. The tour is in Finnish, free of charge and requires no advance registration. Tours are held regardless of weather.
Accessibility: The tour is largely accessible. The route runs mostly on gravel paths, but there are some cobblestones and gentle slopes along the way.
