Marja Rautakorpi & Adelante: Criaturas — Stoa, Helsinki

Criaturas is a work created together by Marja Rautakorpi and the young flamenco group Adelante. It explores the human as a creature in the world's accelerating pulse and asks why we began to separate individuals in a time when we need each other.

Adelante is a new-generation flamenco group assembled by Rautakorpi, featuring nine advanced flamenco dancers aged 15-35 from diverse backgrounds. The group and work emerged from a year-long pilot project (09/2025-08/2026) aimed at creating a stage work together with young people on themes meaningful to them and supporting their development toward artistic practice.

Marja Rautakorpi is a flamenco dancer and artist trained in Finland and Spain, holding a master's degree in dance art (2023). She works as an artist, educator, and producer in the independent performing arts field. She seeks experimental approaches to flamenco - encouraging listeners to experience it as a shared encounter and a possibility between art forms rather than a strictly defined genre.

The world of the work is introduced by a poem by Rautakorpi and Adelante (2026):

"What if by chance it is revealed,
some kind of too-large force?
Slightly mutated hands and minds languages,
in glimpses at bus stops,
bound by force,
together they are against you.
Together.
Together.
Together.
What if together we consciously break,
some kind of too-large force?
Loose from many particles,
separate and unite,
polished against each other, fastened.
Experiences something greater through understanding:
one is formed together."
