My Brother Lionheart - Children's Musical

Jyväskylä Theatre Association Kulissi presents in summer 2026 on the Laajavuori summer theatre stage Astrid Lindgren's classic My Brother Lionheart - a children's musical marking Finland's premiere.

The story follows brothers Korp and Joonatan, who end up in Nangijala and encounter the tyrannical Tengil, the mysterious Katla, and a traitor from Cherry Valley. The musical explores love, goodness and evil in a way that speaks to both children and adults. The work is recommended for children over 5 years old; it contains thrilling themes, battles and profound questions.

On stage, a 25-member ensemble of children and young people performs. The music is composed by Bo Wastesson, the text is adapted by Staffan Götestam and the lyrics are written by Ture Rangström. The Finnish adaptation is by Riikka Lifländer. Directors are Salka Rauvola and Rebekka Laihonen, conductor Anton Linja, vocal direction Juuso Porras, and choreography by Johanna Lampinen and Pihla Pohjola.
