Guided Tours at Joksalan
Jouko "Joksa" Sohlman (b. 1946 - d. 2024) built a small Kalevala-inspired village at Eväjärvi in Jämsä with the goal of living self-sufficiently and naturally without external help. He constructed all the buildings himself, by hand and without electricity.
Beneath the area lies an extensive tunnel network designed as preparation for the worst possible catastrophe - the tunnels include a survival bunker. The guided tour passes through the tunnel network and tells the story of the buildings, the area, and this mysterious man. The tour lasts approximately 40 minutes.
Price 12 € / person. Children under 15 can join free of charge when accompanied by an adult.
The area also features a summer café, a grilling cottage, toilets, and a nature trail open to everyone. Please note that the area is not wheelchair accessible - there are stairs.
