Naivni Divadlo Liberec: The Red Balloon - SAMPO Festival

The performance draws inspiration from Albert Lamorisse's French film of the same name and tells the story of a small boy and his balloon. The balloon flies wherever it wants, but can also respond to the boy's friendship - will he stand up for his friend against misunderstanding adults and street children? The performance is almost entirely without words.

The work was created by a local creative team in collaboration with set designer Berta Doubková (directed by Michaela Homolová, dramaturgy by Vít Perina, music by Filip Homola). The team has created several award-winning works for the youngest audiences, including The Lamb That Fell from the Sky and Tsuku. Tsuku. Tuut. Hau!, both shown at previous SAMPO festivals.

Morning performances for children's groups are held Fri 28.8. at 9.00 and 10.30. Registration is at kultus.hel.fi from 3.8., and individual tickets can also be purchased on the Nukketeatteri Sampo website. The Thursday evening performance at 17.00 is open to all; tickets are sold by Nukketeatteri Sampo. Ticket price: 15 €, support ticket: 20 €.

SAMPO Festival

The international festival of visual theatre and puppet theatre is held for the tenth time in Helsinki and the capital region. The programme features performances and workshops for children and adults from Canada, France, Italy, Slovakia and Ukraine.

The festival programme includes three performances from the Transport series, which addresses globalisation and sustainable development, from Estonia, Lithuania and the Czech Republic, as well as the Italian Teatro del Drago's work Golem - e fango è il mondo, which was awarded at the Venice Biennale. Works from domestic puppet theatre are also included. The festival brings many international creators and performances to Finland for the first time.
