Art History Walking Tours: Siltavuorenpenger

This walking tour of Siltavuorenpenger introduces you to the campus area's over 100-year-old building history. The district's architecture showcases several styles, from early 20th-century eclecticism to contemporary design. Originally, the departments of physiology, physics, and anatomy were located on Siltavuoren, until the area was transformed in the early 2000s into a campus for education and behavioural sciences.

The tours are organized by the University of Helsinki's Faculty of Arts, with art history students serving as guides. The summer programme includes 13 different tours in total. This tour takes place on 10.7. and 27.7.2026 from 11.00 to 12.00.

The meeting point is at the end of Snellmaninkatu (the staircase), Siltavuorenpenger 5 - arrive about 5-10 minutes before the start. Tours run regardless of weather. Free admission, no advance registration required. Tours are conducted in Finnish.
