My Neighbour (Premiere)

My Neighbour is a children's theatre production about moving, feeling nervous, and how the new can become familiar. The main character, the Mover, has just arrived at a new home in Malmi - the walls hold strange sounds and the door is not easy to open when you don't know who is behind it.

A friend comes to the rescue - a neighbour with courage, curiosity, and wild ideas. Together they explore the sounds, visit their neighbours, invent imaginary friends, and build a map of the whole neighbourhood. Along the way, nervousness gradually transforms into joy and loneliness into shared play.

The production is based on children's thoughts about neighbourhoods, and the text, sound, and movement material was created together with kindergarten children from Malmi. In autumn 2026, the production tours different venues and communities in Malmi, aiming to bring different generations together around the performance.

Performances are free, but advance registration is mandatory. Performance duration: 35 min. Recommended age: from 4 years. Performance language: Finnish.

The production is part of Helsinki City Theatre's Main Role in Malmi project, which implements community-oriented art and theatre activities in the Malmi area together with residents. The activities are funded by the City of Helsinki.
